Located in Dane County, Madison was named after James Madison the 4th U.S. President. Madison also known as the "Land of the the Four Lakes". Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, and Kegonsa. Between Mendota and Monona is a thin strip of land running diagonally separating them. In that strip of land is the famous attraction that extends 8 blocks and is now the Pedestrianization of State Street. It connects UWM to the State building. This 8 Block Pedestrian buzz is a Hub of where culture lives here all year long. Music, restaurants, retail shops, theatre, and arts. An amazing place to be social, eat, be merry, and experience culture.
Grab your drink and walk over to the State building and witness the Dome, the largest Granite Dome in the world and stands approximately 162 feet tall. Related to the State building is a little Survey history. There is a Section Corner Monument at the Center of the Capital Building (Pictured above) and the Capital wings are aligned North South and East West with and along the State monumented section lines.
